Over summer I was delighted to have been busy writing my one act chamber opera entitled ‘The Yellow Wallpaper’, which was commissioned by the Helios Collective as part of their ‘formations’ 2016 events in collaboration with ENO and KCL. I have always loved the short story of the same name by Charlotte Perkins Gilman and I have harboured the wish to turn it into an opera for about 2 years!

On November 1st, my new piece for string quartet and electronics, '..By The Atmosphere Of A Room', was performed as part of the 'Decontamination' concert series. The work was commissioned by Larry Goves, the curator of the series, for a concert inspired by the works of Pierre Boulez and David Bowie.

Yesterday afternoon my new piece, 'The Rosy Hearth', was premiered in the RNCM Concert Hall, Manchester, by Ranald McCusker (tenor voice) and Elin Rees (piano). It was commissioned by the RNCM for their 'Day of Song' festival, which was a wonderful exploration into composers who were inspired by great poets. The concert, titled 'An Exquisite Hour',featured works that set texts by Paul Verlaine, Charles Baudelaire and Heinrich Heine.
BLOG: 'SAMSON'
Annually, the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and the Manchester Writing School run a collaborative competition which culminates in a concert demonstrating the works of both composition and literature students called the Rosamond Prize. I am pleased my work 'SAMSON' was performed and subsequently won the Rosamond Prize 2016.

BLOG: 'Peach Blossom Garden'
Last night my new piece for harp quartet, 'Peach Blossom Garden', was performed in the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) Chamber Music Festival 2016. The festival was influenced by Mendelssohn’s ‘songs without words’ and therefore ‘Peach Blossom Garden’, like the Mendelssohn, focuses on the creation of imagery.
BLOG: 'Per Aspera Ad Astra'
Recently I had the pleasure of conducting my short work 'Per Aspera Ad Astra' for SA choir and large ensemble in St John's Smith Square, London. The piece was commissioned by the Girl's Day School Trust (GDST) to celebrate their wealth of talented students from their schools across the country in the final of The GDST Young Musician and Vocalist of the Year Award competition.
