BLOG: 'The Yellow Wallpaper' (Premiere)

It has now been quite a while since my one act chamber opera 'The Yellow Wallpaper', which was commissioned by the Helios Collective, was performed at ENO Lilian Baylis House, London. It was an incredible experience.

During the afternoon we had the dress rehearsal, which was the first time I had seen the full stage set up. The director, Guido Martin-Brandis, had done a fantastic job and it was rather exciting to see it come into fruition!

The evening concert consisted of performances of all three operas commissioned as part of 'Formations 2016' by the Helios Collective, and a panel discussion on the future of opera. Led by Ella Marchment, the panel comprised of Brian Dickie (Artist Consultant ENO), James Clutton (Director), Jonathan Moore (writer) and Stephen Medcalf (director), which was very interesting!

The performance went very well thanks to the singers, the musicians and everyone involved. I really enjoyed the entire process from the beginning until the very end!
