A concert by the Eblana String trio including Grace-Evangeline Masons’s Into The Abyss, I Throw Roses. The piece was written for the Eblana Trio in 2018 and performed by them in the Purcell Room. Described as ‘beautiful and muscular’ by the Guardian, it was inspired by words from Friedrich Nietzsche’s Posthumous Fragments (1882-83) ‘You have overcome yourself: but why do you show yourself to me only as the one overcome? I want to see the victor: throw roses into the abyss and say, "Here is my thanks to the monster who didn’t succeed in swallowing me.’
