The 24th March 2022 saw the Norwegian Premiere of ‘The Imagined Forest’ by the Norwegian National Opera Orchestra under conductor, Leo Hussain at the Oslo Opera House.
Back in 2016, I saw the Oslo Opera House for the first time and thought it was incredibly striking, and wondered what it would be like to have a piece performed there - so this was a particularly exciting occasion!
The concert centred around fairy tales about everything from enchanted forests to mermaids, which have inspired composers throughout the ages. Demonstrating the narrative power of music, ‘The Imagined Forest’ was programmed alongside adventurous works by Humperdinck and Zemlinsky.
