Mason is really pleased to have been named in The Times today as the 'face to watch' for classical music in their 2020 Calendar of Arts; a selection of top picks by their critics for the best upcoming film, theatre, art and music to look out for across the year. The piece, written by Richard Morrison, includes the 100th birthday anniversary of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, which has been marked by the commissioning of 20 new works to premiere throughout the season. As the youngest composer to receive a 2020 centenary commission, still in her mid-twenties, and having heard her music performed by several leading British orchestras, Mason has been included as ‘face to watch’. You can catch her new work for the CBSO in Birmingham on May 22.
