Grace in Royal Liverpool Philharmonic's 2021/22 Season

The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra’s new 2021/22 programme has just been announced, which is the first season with Domingo Hindoyan at the helm as Chief Conductor, including a few exciting performances of Grace’s newly commissioned works such as the rescheduled premieres of ‘Mahler’s Letters’, ‘In Her Own Valley’ and performances of ‘Into The Abyss, I Throw Roses’ and ‘The Imagined Forest.’

‘The Imagined Forest’ - February 24th 2022
Following on from its world premiere at The BBC Proms in September, ‘The Imagined Forest’ gets its second performance in Liverpool in February 2022 in a concert titled ‘Musical Landscapes’; a programme complete with works by Dukas and Rachmaninov. ‘Into The Abyss, I Throw Roses’ - March 8th 2022
In this close-up concert by Equilibrium consisting of Royal Liverpool Philharmonic musicians Kate Richardson and Kate Marsden violins, Rachel Jones viola, and Hilary Browning cello, a programme of chamber strings in the music room, including another performance of Grace-Evangeline Mason’s string trio, ‘Into The Abyss, I Throw Roses.’ More information about the concert can be found here.

‘Mahler’s Letters’ - May 8th 2022
This rescheduled premiere of ‘Mahler’s Letters’ will take place on May 8th alongside Mahler’s 5th Symphony conducted by Vasily Petrenko. ‘Mahler’s Letters’, conducted by Ellie Slorach in this concert, is a large, extended work for choir inspired by the letters of the composer, Gustav Mahler (1860-1911). The work is a setting of four poems written by Grace for this work, which act as fictitious letters constructed from and inspired by the ideas, thoughts and language in Mahler’s correspondence. ‘In Her Own Valley’ - July 16th 2022
This concert includes the world premiere of a new staged cantata, ‘In Her Own Valley’, inspired by the life and work of Hannah Lightbody, the Liverpool-born 18th century campaigner for the welfare and education of working-class children, featuring all three Liverpool Philharmonic Youth Choirs – Melody Makers, Children's Choir and our Youth Choir.
