‘Pinhole Planetarium, Seeing Stars’ (2018)

for piano duo

Approx. Duration: 5’

Pinhole Planetarium, Seeing Stars (2018) is a work for piano duo inspired by the installation by artist Dianne Bos entitled ‘Seeing Stars’ (2003), which uses a pinhole camera with multiple ‘lenses’ to project a galaxy-shaped cluster of lights onto ground glass. The piece seeks to generate an ethereal soundworld created by the use of delicate fragments that follow the shape of five different constellations (Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Orion, Taurus and Gemini) to inform the melodic pitch contours within the work.’ ©G.E.M.2018
